Barbara May Pratt, 87, of Idaho Falls, Idaho passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023 surrounded by her husband and daughter. She was under the care of her family and Enhabit Home Health & Hospice.
Barbara was born May 22, 1936 in Salem Oregon to Aaron and Helen Ediger. Barbara grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem Senior High School in 1954.
On August 3, 1956 she married James “Jim” Howard Pratt of Bremerton, Washington in Salem. They celebrated 67 years of marriage just days before her passing. Shortly after being married, Jim and Barbara moved to Bremerton where they would live and raise their two children. Their first born Cheryl arrived in 1959 and Randy in 1962. Over the years Barbara worked to help Jim support the family. She worked in the kitchen at Olympic College, a clerk at JCPenny, office manager for Floor Decorators, and as an Operating Room tech at Olympic Ambulatory Surgery Center. She later retired to help tend to her grandsons, Aaron and Adam. In 2014, Jim and Barbara moved to Idaho Falls, to be closer to family. Barbara was a loving, generous soul and enjoyed serving others. She was a wonderful cook and Barbara made sure you never went hungry. Her son-in-law says he gained 30 pounds when he married into the family because of the good food she made.
Barbara is survived by her husband Jim; daughter Cheryl (Steve) Thayer of Idaho Falls; daughter-in-law Teresa Pratt of Silverton, Oregon; siblings Janet Landis of Ketchikan, Alaska, Beverly Buhtz of Payson, Arizona, and Emory (Majorie) of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; Grandchildren Aaron Thayer of Idaho Falls, Molly (Brandon) Delgado of Covington, Washington, Sam (Stephanie) Pratt of Silverton, Oregon; Adam (Staci) Thayer of Chubbuck, Idaho and 6 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Aaron and Helen Ediger; son Randal “Randy” Pratt; siblings Loren Ediger, Jamie Ediger, Richard Ediger, Theodore Ediger and Miriam Nelson.
The family would like to thank her hospice nurse, Shelby, for her sensitive, kind, and compassionate care. Also, a special thanks to all of Barbara’s friends at Morningstar for their compassionate care. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Fielding Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Buck-Murphy Funeral Home.
