Gayl D. Day, 95, died at Fairwinds-Sand Creek in Idaho Falls, on Saturday, July 26, 2014. She was under hospice care. She was born on April 1, 1919, in Harrisburg, PA, the daughter of Rev. Edwin B. Harris and Mary E. Dando Harris. She married Clyde J. Day on May 31, 1941. He predeceased her as did her daughter, Janet L. Tobin. Gayl attended Albright College in Reading, PA, and later graduated from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque with a degree in library science and education. She taught full-time at Emerson Elementary School in Idaho Falls and also was a substitute teacher at other local schools. Gayl lived in a variety of locations in the U.S. as her husband pursued a career in the U.S. Navy. The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1957. Gayl loved animals and donated to a number of animal refuge organizations. She was also interested in reading and music. She was a member of Eastern Star. Gayl will be greatly missed by her two sons, John E. Day (Gail) of Moss Landing, CA, and Michael A. Day (Judy) of Lancasster, PA, and her son-in-law Dan J. Tobin of Idaho Falls. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Services will be private and held at the discretion of the family.Gayl D. Day, 1919~2014
