Kenneth Charles Wrenn

September 29, 1938 — May 23, 2017

Kenneth Charles Wrenn, of Idaho Falls, passed away May 23, 2017 at Morning Star Assisted Living under the care of the Morning Star and Encompass Home Health and Hospice Care. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones throughout the day.
Kenneth was born on September 29, 1938, In Topeka, Kansas to Charles and Ruth Wrenn. The family moved to Pocatello, Idaho when he was small and he attended school in Pocatello. He graduated from Pocatello High School and continued his education at Idaho State University and the University of Idaho. He holds a BS in Business Administration, a BS in secondary Education-Business, a Master in Education and Speech and a Masters in Guidance and Counseling. He worked as a high school counselor in Nevada for 5 years and was referred to as a "Friend of the Court" working on numerous cases involving high school students. He also taught at several high schools throughout the state of Idaho. He served as a counselor at Clair E. Gail Jr. High for 21 years until he retired. After retirement, he still worked with students over the years in helping them obtain higher educational degrees. He was a strong supporter of Idaho State University and the University of Idaho.
Kenneth was involved over the years in numerous outreach efforts involving the importance of education and was an advocate to help with suicide prevention. He previously served on the Board of Big Brothers, Big Sisters, was a volunteer for the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank and the men's homeless shelter. He was a member of the National Education Association and a life time member of the Order of DeMolays. He attended church and bible study at the Morning Star Christian Fellowship and assisted where he could with the services. He also was involved with numerous committees at Morning Star.
He is survived by his sister, Nancy Bergmann, his niece Stacy (James) McGowan, of Idaho Falls, his nephew, Mike (Rachel) Bergmann of Boise and five great nieces, Kimberly (Dan) Schuebert, Stephanie (Andrew) Wielang, of Idaho Falls, Jessie Sargis, (Colten Kalipetsis) of Blackfoot, Paige and Presley Bergmann of Boise. He also has four great great nieces and a great great nephew. He was so proud of his family and particularly his beautiful girls as he called them.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth Wrenn and his nephew, Christopher Bergmann.
The family would like to give special thanks to the outstanding Morning Star team who were all like family to him and to the Encompass Home Health and Hospice group.
In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest a donation in memory of Kenneth for a scholarship at Idaho State University for a less fortunate student, or a donation to the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 am, Friday May 26, 2017 at Fielding Memorial Cemetery, Idaho Falls with Pastor Steve Morreale of Morning Star Christian Fellowship will be officiating.
