Richard "Dick" William Duvall, 82, passed away on Monday, July 28, 2014, at Fairwinds Retirement Community. He was under the care of Eastern Idaho Hospice.
Richard was born on March 13, 1932, in Bismarck, North Dakota, to William and Myrtle Duvall. As a young man, he moved to Montana where he met and married Betty Jean Schultz. They raised their four daughters in Great Falls, Montana. They were happily married for 56 years until Betty's passing in 2011. Since then his constant companion was his cat, Princess.
Richard worked in construction, owned a toy and hobby store, did maintenance for Circle K and was involved in several family businesses, such as a ing and publishing company, and making and selling children's play dough.
They lived in Montana, Massachusetts, Coeur d'Alene and Oregon. They moved to Idaho Falls in 2006, to be closer to their youngest grandchildren, Austin and Cole Hayward. In their later years, they enjoyed traveling in their motor home. He was interested in model airplanes, trains, watching all types of sports on TV and going to his grandson's sporting events. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Duvall, Carla (Jay) Rohmer and Tracee (LaMar) Hayward. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and their daughter Denise.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 1730 St. Clair Road in Idaho Falls, with Reverend Ruth Marsh, officiating. He will be laid to rest in Montana at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's honor may be made to Boy Scout Troop #387 in Idaho Falls or to St. Paul's Methodist Church.
