Abbie was born October 4, 1969, in Kearney, Nebraska, to Robert and Ann (O’Quinn) Young. She received her education from Kearney High School, graduating with the class of 1988. Abbie attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and on the UNL tennis team. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education in 1992, and went on to teach both first grade and kindergarten at Ammon Elementary School in Idaho Falls. Abbie was a healthy, active, vibrant person who loved playing tennis, hiking with groups of friends in the nearby mountains, biking, and walking. She spent endless hours with Mike enjoying life with and providing loving care for their dogs, Myra, Olive, and Loretta. Abbie was deeply committed to attending church and bible study at New Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church and was a member of P.E.O. Chapters in both Kearney and Idaho Falls. She cared deeply for her family and traveled home to Nebraska several times yearly for visits with her parents, sister, and brother-in-law, Eric. She had a heart of gold, and greeted every person and animal she met with a gracious, happy smile. Abbie was admired and cherished for her genuine kindness and carefree nature by everyone who knew her.
