Allen R (Ross) Roach passed away peacefully April 24, 2013 at the age of 94 at his daughter's home.
He was born August 21, 1918 in Erie, Pennsylvania to Edwin and Winifred Roach. Allen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and received a Masters Degree from Dartmouth University. Having gone to school in France as a child he was fluent in French, German and Spanish. From 1941 to 1944 he served as a code breaker for the US Navy. He returned home and ran the family business, Penn Brass and Copper until 1971 when he retired and moved to the west. He was great believer in education through school and travel and worked for many years teaching at the Pima Community College in Tucson Arizona. His passion was sailing on Lake Erie and the Southern California coast, hiking in the canyons in Tucson and music. Allen was an accomplished piano, accordion, bag pipe and harmonica player. With his best friend Charlie and Rosemarie, they formed the "Harmony Dogs" harmonica trio and played in Tucson for various functions. Allen will be remembered by many for his kind and generous spirit.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his one brother Jerry Roach. Surviving are his children Barbara (Sasha) Bacon-Pavlovic of Twin Falls, Dianne Roach of Seattle, Scott (Debbie) of Tampa,Fl, Lynn Robbins of Bangor, Pa, Jennifer (Richard) Adams of Edinboro, Pa, Sandra Tunney of Philidelphia and seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
