Alonso Martinez, 24, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014, due to a canoeing accident. He was born to Salomon Martinez and Maria Dolores Barrientos on August 12, 1989 at Fresno, California. He graduated from Clark County High School in 2007. Alonso was wed from July 2009 to January 2014. Alonso was living in Crosby, North Dakota from 2012 to present. He was employed by a private contractor based out of North Dakota. He was a member of the St. John Paul II Catholic Community.
His hobbies and interested were camping, hiking, socializing, cooking, dancing, and pumping iron. Alonso was an adventurous and charismatic soul; he always put others before himself, could light up a room with his smile, was family-oriented, gave the best bear hugs known to man, and was loved by all young and old. Survivors-Father Salomon Martinez, and Mother Maria Dolores Martinez both of Dubois, ID. Sister Maria J. Serrano and Spouse Camilo Serrano, Jr. of Dubois, ID. Brother Fernando Martinez and Spouse Sylvanna Martinez of San Diego, CA. Sister Beatriz A. Lopez and Spouse Adrian Lopez of Kuna, ID. Sister Melissa Hernandez and Spouse David Hernandez of Idaho Falls, ID. Sisters Edith Martinez, Judith Martinez, and Patricia Martinez of Dubois, ID. Nephews: Dominique, Alondra, and Benjamin Serrano, Oliver Lopez, Noah Hernandez, and Nicholas Maldonado.
Alonso was preceded in death by his fraternal grandfather, Felimon Martinez and maternal grandfather Juan Barrientos. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2014, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 657 N. 2871 E. in Roberts, with Father Raul Covarrubias, celebrant. Burial will follow in the Dubois Cemetery in Dubois. A Rosary will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a viewing following from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E 17th St. in Idaho Falls. The family suggests memorial donations be made to The Martinez Family.
