Anita Joy Perez Conley, 56, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family, of injuries due to sudden cardiac death while at work.
Anita was born January 11, 1958 to George P. and Leona M. Perez. She was the third born of eight children. She grew up a country girl and loved everything country. She attended schools in Iona and finished with graduating from Bonneville High School.
Anita started work at the INL just after graduating high school. She worked for the INL for almost 39 years. She started as a laborer then went on to work as a tool crib attendant, buyer and at the time of her death, as a contract administrator.
On August 25, 1984 Anita married Kenneth D. Conley which ended in divorce. Two lights of her life were born to this union, Tiffany and KaLoni. She was their biggest cheerleader. Tiffany and KaLoni swear they could hear their mom cheering them on, even when they were under water at swim competitions.
Anita grew up riding horses and was a member of several local posse's and was an advisor to the Rigby Junior Posse for several years. She played pool and bowled on a league for many years. If it was a competition, she was in it to win it. She just knew that rainbow kisses from her girls would always help her to win and would fill her pockets before every game or competition. She loved to dance and taught swing dance with her sister Patty. For many years, Anita donated her time at the Hispanic Youth Symposium in Sun Valley, Idaho. Anita enjoyed horse racing and together, with her family, would make the annual trek to Elko, Nevada to work the pari-mutuels at the Elko County Fair where she has made some very dear friends over the years. She enjoyed gardening and always shared her garden bounties with others. Anita liked camping and loved being a firebug. As soon as the camp was set, she was searching for a fire stick.
Family meant everything to Anita. She was our caregiver, sister, nurse, aunt, friend and most of all mom. She would drop all to help anyone in need. She had the "gift of gab" and nobody was a stranger for long. Nobody will forget her big beautiful brown eyes and smile.
Anita is survived by her two children, Tiffany Ann Conley and KaLoni Marie Conley, both of Idaho Falls; seven siblings, George (Kathy) Perez, Debbie Johnson, Patricia Perez, Angela Perez, Rachelle (Darrin) DePaolo, Michael (Kris) Perez all of Idaho Falls and Sheila (Randy) Vrooman of Mack, Colorado. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins along with the many friends that are near and dear to heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Leona; grandparents Cecil and Rosa Perez, Frederick and Anna Finck; and brother-in-law, Mark Johnson.
A special thanks to the nurses and Dr. Phillips in the intensive care unit for their compassion, care, and understanding for Anita and our family.
