Anita Mae Newman

Anita was born 5/22/1922 in Lake Crystal Minnesota to Ida and Kenneth Thompson. She grew up and attended schools in Madelia, MN, and she rode her pony to school everyday. She met and married the Love of her life, Jack Newman, in Madelia in 1938 and they spent the next 63 years together. Jack died in 2001 and she missed him every single day. Anita and Jack moved to Idaho in 1941 and Anita and the two girls went back to Madelia while Jack was in the Army. They all returned to Idaho Falls when he was released. Anita is survived by two daughters, Sharon Miller Wright and Eileen (Bob) Spanbauer, both of Meridian, ID and three sons Jack (Sherrie) of Livingston, MT, Tom (Patti) and Jim of Idaho Falls, ID. She is also survived by two granddaughters, four grandsons, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, as well as one brother, Kenneth (Nance) Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, and one grandson. Anita was an avid golfer until her fading eyesight made play impossible. She served as president of both the Pinecrest and Idaho Falls Country Club Women's Golf Associations. She also loved playing Bridge and forged many friendships through those two activities.
Anita never met a stranger and would strike up conversations with most anyone. She was fun, funny, and a joy to be around. Our loss is profound but we know she is with Dad and that she can "see" him once again. Services
Rosary, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00pm at Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St, Idaho Falls.
Funeral Service, Thursday, January 12, 2017, 11:00am at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1690 17th St., Idaho Falls.
Interment to follow at Taylor Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Idaho Youth Ranch.
