Anna "Ann" Regina Petersen Griffel passed away on November 08, 2011 at the age of 83 years at Idaho Falls Care and Rehab Center, in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Anna was born September 20, 1928 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, the eldest of three children to Ernest Henry and Metta Marie Rogalski Petersen. Her parents immigrated to the United States in 1926 and 1927 from Germany. Unable to speak English, a neighbor enrolled Anna in the first grade at York School. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1946.
Anna's first job was with the Post Register under James Brady and then with the radio station KIFI. She also worked at Chesbro Music.
In 1950 Anna married Everett Fred Griffel of Ashton, Idaho at St, John's Lutheran church in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They settle on a beautiful ranch in Swan Valley farming and raising cattle. Anna was a resident of the Swan Valley area for over 60 years.
In addition to her ranch-wife duties Ann also worked for Swan Valley School District No 92, Petterson Trading, and Angus Restaurant. She also held a position on the Swan Valley City Council for 12 years.
Anna enjoyed working with her husband on the ranch, and some of her hobbies were reading, collecting antiques, needlework and her large collection of cookbooks.
Anna and Everett have three children: Sandra (Harmon) Pfisterer, Steven (Anna) Griffel, and Larry (Shirley) Griffel. They also have seven grand-children, Stephanie, Crystal, Jake (Rocio) Pfisterer, Erica (Patrick) Kelly, Brittney (Boe) Baisch, Lindsey (Ben) Decker and Lauren Griffel, and a great-grandson Gavin Kelly. Anna is survived by her brother Henry (Shirley) Petersen, Walter (Tallene) Petersen, sister-in-laws Donna Griffel, Aimee Griffel and brother-in-law Earl Griffel, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 290 7th Street, Idaho Falls, with Pastor Jerry Reinke, officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held one hour prior the service at the church. Following lunch, a graveside service will be held at the Squirrel Cemetery in Squirrel, Idaho.
