She was born in Kim, CO on June 7, 1924, the first of seven children born to Ralph and Harriet Winters. The family traveled back and forth between the homestead at Kim and Booker, TX before escaping the Dust Bowl in 1935. They moved to Idaho where her grandfather was the pastor at the Riverside Friends Church, Marsing, ID. Ardis graduated from Greenleaf Friends Academy where she met Keith Lamm. Ardis met Willis Nelson in 1972 and they were married May 31, 1973. She was involved in several multi-level businesses over the years. She eventually launched her own business, The Bargain Bungalow, a popular consignment clothing store in Fruitland, ID which she operated for over 25 years. She also continued her multi-level career with several companies including Joy Bras and Melaleuca. She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Willis; sisters and brothers, Virginia (Richard) Riggs, Neva Stark, Joan Gash, Lonnie (Bonnie) Winters, and Jack (Karen) Winters; children, Suzy (Phil) Davis, Terry (Lisa) Lamm, Steve (Michelle) Lamm and Chuck (June) Lamm; step-children, Linda Lampl and Mike Nelson; as well as 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Her grandson Tony Lamm, brother Ervin Winters and parents preceded her in death.
