Barbara Jean Brumet, age 79, formerly of New Plymouth passed away in Ontario on May 5, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 17th at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth. Barbara was born in Henery, NE on March 17, 1937 to Fred James and Bessie Marie (Friedley) Lane; Barbara was the fifth of six children. The family lived and raised their children in New Plymouth. Barbara married Gerald "Jerry" Brumet of Emmett, ID; he served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. They were married on March 11, 1955 and lived in Moses Lake, WA until 1960, then moved to New Plymouth, working and raising their two children, Jerry and Debbie. Jerry Sr. was employed by Wells & Davies Meat Packing in Payette and Barbara was employed by Holy Rosary Hospital in Ontario as a nurse; nursing was her passion and she enjoyed the field.
After the death of her husband in 1973, Barbara went on to work in administration for the Presbyterian Nursing Home in Ontario while continuing to raise their two children. Barbara was active with the New Plymouth V.F.W., Ladies Auxiliary and Q.R.U. She enjoyed cooking big dinners, gardening, and loved her cats.
Barbara is survived by her son Jerry Jay Brumet, Jr. and daughter Debra Lynn Brumet-Mills, both of New Plymouth; her sister Viola Puetsch of Temple, TX; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
