Betty Kay Aguirre

April 10, 1943 — August 20, 2012

Betty Kay Aguirre slipped silently to heaven on August 20, 2012, while at home. Betty was born in Provo, Utah, on April 10, 1943. She was the second oldest of nine children, moving to American Falls, Idaho, where she was raised. Betty met Frank Aguirre in high school in American Falls. They were married July 9, 1959, and were married for 26 years, being parted by Frank's death. Together they raised a family of 1 boy and 5 girls.
Betty's personality was outgoing and personable, which made for the perfect fit for her to make a career as a waitress. She had a faithful following of customers, who were more like her friends and family, making sure no one's coffee cup was empty. Betty made her way to working at the Tommyknocker on Main Street in Twin Falls, where she ventured out and bought the restaurant, making it her own. She later opened her own restaurant in Filer, Idaho, giving it her signature name of Betty Kay's, again, making it her home away from home and a local gathering spot. Betty met Virgil Thompson while waitressing, becoming best friends, companions, and later husband and wife. She was also parted from Virgil by his death.
Betty enjoyed boating with the family, golfing, and fishing. She loved coffee with the girls, water aerobics, but most of all, yard sale-ing with her BFF Dorothy Moody.
Betty was preceded in death by siblings Nancy Linhartson and Jim Hibpshman, by husbands Frank and Virgil, by children Frank Jr., Craig, and Kimi, and grandchildren Terri Cooper and Stephanie Aguirre.
Betty is survived by her children, Debra (Todd) Quinley, Toni (Robert) Martinez, Ron (Shirlene) Aguirre, Cyndi (David) Cooper, Judi (Terry) Winkle, and Ricki Wright. She is also survived by siblings, Denise Nelson, Rick Hibpshman, Kelcey Hibpshman, Steven Hibpshman, Linda Ellison, and Berry Hibpshman. She has 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Abiding by Betty's wishes, because she was the boss of us, she was cremated so there will be no viewing. Services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Twin Falls Reformed Church on Grandview in Twin Falls. Services are under the direction of Lance Cox and the staff of White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park".
