Beula was born September 22, 1929 in Glen Idaho to Arlynn and Vella Ashment. She grew up and attended school in Star Valley. She was raised on a sheep farm where at a very young age she and her sister Madge herded sheep (as Beula would say we were small amateur Sheppard's) but Beula didn't mind being out there because she loved her sheep. Even up to the last days of her life she was still talking about her sheep and how she was going to find her a sheep herder to marry so she could be back with the sheep. On October 18, 1946 Beula married Sydney Oakden and moved to Swan Valley. They latter divorced and she moved to Idaho Falls. Beula married James W. Chesak in 1955 and continued to live around the Idaho Falls area. She was a member of the Alliance Covenant Church. Beula had many talents. She was a seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. She loved to play the guitar and accordion while also singing and yodeling. Her passion though was reading, writing poetry and short stories. She was the president and long time member of the Eda-How Poet's and Writers Group. Beula's health kept her from doing many things that she would have liked to try but she was very contempt with what she was able to do and never complained. She had a good sense of humor and was always quick with responses. Beula is survived by her sons Allen (Janet) Chesak of Rigby, Carter Oakden of Idaho Falls, daughter Gaylene (Mike) Burkhart also of Idaho Falls, sister Madge (Max) Jacobson of Swan Valley, brother Theron Ashment of Swan Valley. She had three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband James Chesak who passed away on May 30, 2012; daughters Patsy Pierce and Myrna Chesak; siblings Keith Ashment, Kathryn Wheeler, Blaine Ashment, Theo Ashment and Norris Ashment. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery in Idaho Falls.
