Brian Frederick Finnigan, 74, of Idaho Falls, formerly of Blackfoot, went to heaven to fish with his Master Gardener on Sunday, December 29, 2013. His absence will be felt greatly by his family, friends and anyone who was privileged to know him. Brian was born May 8, 1939, in Wenatchee, WA to the late Bernard and Elda Finnigan and grew up on a family apple orchard. Brian married his high school sweetheart, Connie (Campbell) on September 1, 1960 and they enjoyed fifty-three years of marriage. Brian earned a B.S. in Horticulture and a B.S. and an M.S. in Entomology from Washington State University. He was a research assistant for WSU's agriculture research station in Vancouver, WA. In the early 70's he was the landscape supervisor for a prestigious college in Southern California. In 1976, he moved his family to Southeast Idaho after buying a tree farm and a landscaping business. Brian retired in 2002 after 22 years as an Extension Educator for the University of Idaho, Bingham County. One of his greatest professional joys was to inspire and encourage families to establish apple orchards in Southeast Idaho. His favorite past-time was fishing with his family whenever and wherever possible. Brian loved studying the Bible and teaching others God's truth. He was a member of the Worldwide Church of God which later became Grace Communion International and served as a local elder for the Blackfoot congregation. After moving back to Idaho Falls, Brian and Connie joined the Alliance Covenant Church community in 2005.
Left to remember Brian, is his wife Connie, their children; Laurie (Randy) Rhuman of Boise, ID; Kevin (Dru) Finnigan of Westport, WA; Sean (Julie) Finnigan of Grass Valley, CA; Brenda (Joe) Haan of Idaho Falls, ID and Brian "Scotty" (Jennifer) Finnigan of Wylie, TX; his twelve beloved grandchildren; Brianna (David) Luper Justine Shafer; Heather (Zach) Wiedeman, Troy Finnigan; Katie (Austin) Taylor, Jacob Finnigan; Mickenzie Haan, Maddie Haan; Declan Finnigan, Nolan Finnigan, Campbell Finnigan, Cormac Finnigan and three great-grandchildren, Mattie Luper, Kayden Paul and Stetzon Luper.
