Brian Ward Hymas

Idaho Falls - Brian Ward Hymas, 43, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Idaho Falls, due to an airplane accident. He was born on October 15, 1969 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ronald S. and Paula Tormey Hymas. Brian has lived in Nevada, Colorado, Utah and was currently living in Ucon, Idaho. He mainly grew up in Salt Lake Valley. His first marriage was to Chelsey Hillman which brought Brian to Rexburg in 1992. Brian met Ann in 1995 and they were married on January 1, 1997. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple in June 1999. They added two more children to the family to make seven children between them. Brian started into mechanics during his high school years and chose that as his career. He had attained Master Certifications in four areas - Auto, Heavy Equipment Truck, Truck, Collision, along with specialty areas. He had thirty ASE certifications and wanted to get as many as he could. The last three years he had been named NAPA ASE Technician of the Year for the Salt Lake Napa Region that spanned all of Utah, Southeast Idaho and west portion of Wyoming. He also placed nationally in the top twenty then the last two years, in the top five. This year he also attained World Class Technician from AAIA/ASE. His name is listed in a national "Hall of Fame" at ASE Headquarters for this achievement. He had only had his own shop open for a year and experienced overwhelming success. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Brian served in many positions within the LDS church. He was a teacher in Primary, Sunday School and Elders Quorum. Brian was the Sunday School President and the above positions in scouting listed on the ward level. He also served as an Executive Secretary. The last calling he held was as a Ward Clerk for a BYU-Idaho ward. In his spare time Brian loved to spend time with his family, build anything, fix anything, fish, hike, and Dutch-oven cooking. He touched many youth in being an example of an Eagle Scout.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Hymas; five sons, Kevin (Danyel Johnson) Foster of Salt Lake City, UT, Stephen Foster, Micenzi (Cheyenne Miller) Foster, Jacob Hymas, all of Idaho Falls, and Joshua Foster (currently serving a mission) of Nauvoo, Illinois; 2 daughters, Ashley Hymas and Ciera Hardcastle of Idaho Falls; parents, Elaine Hymas of Reno, NV, and Paula Davis of Rangley, CO; two brothers, Chase (Christine) Hymas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and twin brother Brett (Judy Barnes) Hymas of Salt Lake City, UT; one sister Heather (Britt) Matkowsky of Winston-Salem, NC; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Donald Hymas and Georganna Hymas and his father Ronald Hymas.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Ucon LDS Stake Center, 2967 E. 105 N. in Ucon, with Bishop Ryan Loftus, officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held at the church from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2013 and one hour prior to the funeral. Interment will follow in the Sugar City Cemetery in Sugar City.
