Camille Surrusco, 89, of Trumbull, CT, formerly of Idaho Falls, ID, beloved wife of the late Giacomo ("Jack") Surrusco, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 in her home with her loving family by her side. Born in New York City on February 25, 1922, Camille was the daughter of the late Ignazio Castagna and Anna Patti. Camille was born, raised and married in Manhattan, then raised her own family in Queens NY, later moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho upon retirement, and then settled in Trumbull, CT in 1999.
Camille always enjoyed a good laugh and being with family. She loved to cook and bake, enjoyed bowling, taking trips to the casino, and playing cards, especially poker and "don-go-go". She was a long-time and avid Bingo player at the Trumbull and Idaho Falls VFW Centers. She enjoyed her visits to the Trumbull Senior Center, and was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Her family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and aides of The Connecticut Hospice who cared so well for her during her final months at home.
Survivors include her two sons, Joseph (Laurie) Surrusco of Idaho Falls, ID and Mechanicsburg, PA, and Carl (Anet) Surrusco Trumbull, CT, with whom Camille lived, grandchildren Jennifer Surrusco of Boise, ID, and Christopher ("CJ"), Angela and Anthony Surrusco of Trumbull, CT. She is also survived by her brother Carmine Castagna and his wife Dolores of Parsippany NJ, her brother-in-law James Surrusco, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Frances & Frank Marino, and many loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Camille was preceded in death by her grandson Joseph C. ("JC") Surrusco II, her sister Katherine ("Katie") Mellini, and an (infant) sister Caterina Castagna.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, on the corner of 9th and Lee in Idaho Falls, with Father Jairo Restrepo, celebrant. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Idaho Falls. A Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 29th at 10 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, CT. A viewing for family and friends will be held at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home on Thursday, July 28th from 5 to 9 pm. In lieu of flowers the family suggest, memorial contributions be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Idaho, 4355 Emerald St., Suite 280, Boise, ID 83706.
