Charles John Hohnhorst, 75 of Jerome passed away on Tuesday February 15, 2011 at St. Luke's MVRMC. Charles was born on February 8, 1936 in Hazelton, Idaho to John and Alpha (Walker) Hohnhorst. He attended schools in Hazelton, graduating from Hazelton High School in 1953. Charlie joined the Army in 1955 where he served in the Medical Corps of the 16th Mountain Division in Germany, after being honorably discharged from the Army Charlie attended Idaho State University where he met Marjorie Walker. They were married in 1959 and had one son in1961. Charlie worked as a dispatcher for I.M.L. Freight Lines until 1972 when he decided to return to Idaho. In 9173 he moved the family to Wendell where Charlie would begin his new passion for the potato industry as a grower for Idaho frozen Foods. Charlie farmed potatoes for 28 years where he made many friends and was respected for his abilities as a grower and seed broker. Charlie had a keen business sense and in 1999 was instrumental in starting Sawtooth Dairy Specialties which continues to operate. After Marjorie passed away in an automobile accident in 1993, Charlie re united with Janette Kandler in 2003 who remained a trusted loving devoted companion until his death. Charlie would have liked to thank Martin Sandoval and Marie Lickley for all their hard work and devotion for many years, he loved you both. Charlie is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Walker Hohnhorst, his brother and Judge John Hohnhorst, his parents. Charlie is survived by Janette Kandler of Jerome, his son Tom Hohnhorst of Jerome, and grandchildren Erica of Twin Falls and Michael of Boise. Charlie was known and loved by many and will be greatly missed. And now he wants everyone to know "I'm gone fishing". A memorial service will be held on Sunday February 20, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 2030 Filer Ave E. in Twin Falls. Arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park".
