Our brother, uncle, and best friend succumbed to bladder cancer at Cenoma House assisted living on April 14, 2012 surrounded by family and friends from Visions Hospice and the fantastic staff at Cenoma House.
Leon was born January 25, 1929 in Rigby, Idaho to Charles and ElReita Ford, the oldest boy and third in succession of ten children. The family moved to Twin Falls in June of 1941 where, at the age of 17, Leon joined the Navy in 1946. He returned home in 1948 and finished high school and graduated from Twin Falls High in 1949. He then went to Business College in Boise, Idaho followed by a stint at BYU in Provo, Utah. He spent most of his life and career in Altadena, California, working as office manager for a radiologist. He truly looked forward to members of his family coming to visit and touring Disneyland. Leon himself wasn't over-enthused about the theme park but he so enjoyed watching the thrilled looks on each of his young nieces and nephews' faces. He returned to Twin Falls in 1991 where he won a battle with throat cancer in 2001. His final battle with bladder cancer proved to be too massive to survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Raeola, brother Nolan, and baby sister Mary Ellen. He is survived by siblings Shirley Cardwell, Reita (John) Rambo, Deoine (Bob) Moore, Don Ford, Ray (Sandra) Ford, and Linda (Bill) Lyda.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to Visions Hospice at 1770 Park View Drive, Twin Falls, Idaho 83301.
