Clarence "Bud" May

Clarence "Bud" May, Payette, ID., passed away at the age of 93 on Saturday, Aug 21, 2012 in his home surrounded by his family and friends. Clarence was born on June 10, 1919 in Ontario, OR., the fourth of eleven children born to Blaine and Effie May. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. -10:30 a.m. Friday at Shaffer Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette followed by a committal service at 11:30 a.m., Friday at the Payette Rosedale Memorial Gardens and a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m., Friday at the Ontario First Christian Church, 180 NW 1st Street in Ontario. As a young man, he worked for his father in their custom farm business and later established his own hay chopping business. He married Opal Mae Ferguson on Sept 27, 1940 and they had three children. In 1945, Clarence started his trucking business, May Trucking Company, with a 1940 Dodge and two 1942 Ford trucks and a lot of determination. He began by hauling cement from Lime, OR. to the Boise area, and hauled cement for the construction of dams built on the Snake River. Other commodities were hauled and the business grew. In 1965, he sold May Trucking Company to his two sons. Clarence was involved in community activities and in his church. For years he was a member of the Payette Assembly of God, and more recently, the Ontario First Christian Church. Clarence believed in God completely and wanted his family to love the Lord Jesus. He was a member of several civic organizations and served as president for Kiwanis. After retiring, Clarence and Opal spent winters in Arizona and traveled with their motor home all over the United States. They took each of the grandchildren on a special trip with them. Clarence enjoyed woodworking, welding, and working in his shop and lawn. He also built the May cabin above Ola, ID. in High Valley where the family spent many carefree days. His happiest days were when his family gathered around him. He is survived by one brother, Jesse May of Modesto, CA.; two sisters, Vera Smith, Nampa and Esther Sherman, Boise; a brother in law, Gene (Helen) Ferguson, Crooked River Ranch, OR; and sisters in law, Cora Everett of Gresham, OR., Imogene Ferguson of Sisters, OR. and Lee Audra Ferguson of Troutdale, OR. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003, seven siblings, and several brothers and sisters in law. Also surviving are his 3 children: Wanda (John) Lehmkuhl of Payette, Marvin (Charlotte) May of Sisters, OR., Blaine (Teri) May of Payette; 7 grandchildren: John (Caroline) Lehmkuhl of Portland, OR., Laura (David) Daniels, Salem, OR., Dana (Mark) Turner, Buckeye, AZ., Jennifer (Mark) MacDonald of Debary, FL., Craig (Renee) May, Sisters, OR., Darin (Holly) May, Salem, OR., and Ashley May, Fruitland, 17 great grand children, 1 great great grandson, and over 100 nieces and nephews.
