Claude Wesley Cain

October 23, 1916 — May 8, 2012

Claude Wesley Cain 95, of Idaho Falls passed away Tuesday May 8th, 2012 at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center from causes incident to age.
Claude was born October 23, 2916 in Bison, South Dakota to Harvey Edward Cain and Ada Pearl McKim Cain, the 5th of 6 children. He attended school in Nampa, Idaho and graduated from Nampa High School in 1934.
While in the Army he met a dark haired beauty named Maxine Doyle. She was a welder and a bus driver. They married on March 18, 1945 in Nampa at his brother's home. He and Mom owned and operated a store/gas station/post office in Bowmont, Idaho. They also helped start the radio station in Weiser, Idaho where their sons Don and Jim were born. Dad was passionate and active in the broadcasting industry his entire adult life. In 1951 the family moved to Idaho Falls where Dad was the Station Manager for KID-TV. Doug and Cathy were born to this happy family and Idaho Falls became Dad and Mom's hometown.
Dad was governor of the International District of Civitans in 1964 and President of the Rocky Mountain Broadcaster Association in 1978. He was a member of the First Christian Church, family values and strength was a priority to him.
Dad retired in 1979 and enjoyed golfing with his kids!! Mom and Dad spent many years in St. George, Utah during the winter months, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Mom passed away in 2000, but Dad was never really alone, as he had a devoted following of many friends and family. In his later years Dad would never miss a good golf tournament, ball game, or boxing match, always keeping track of his favorites. Dad was always up for a few games of cribbage and was almost un-beatable!! Dad never met a stranger and will be remembered for his humorous quips and quotes, and his quick wit.
As a family we are certain that our sadness of his loss will resume to feelings of joy for having Dad in our lives for so long. Although physically he declined in the last year or so, he was able to stay in his own home till the very end. His mind was sharp as a tack and we are assured he was aware of the love surrounding him.
Claude is survived by his children, Don (Jerri) of Boise, Jim of Idaho Falls, Doug (Sharleen) of Seattle, and Cathy (John) Kendall of Idaho Falls; 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and his beloved cat "Miss Kitty". He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Maxine, Brothers Doyle, Elvis, and Don; and Sisters Gladys and Crystal.
At Dad's request, a private family service will be held at a later date.
