Craig Scott Newsom

November 16, 1989 — March 25, 2013

Craig Scott Newsom, 23, of Fruitland, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013. A viewing for family and friends will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, March 31st at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 1st at West Valley Free Methodist Church, 100 E. 1st St., Fruitland with Pastor Doug Roberts officiating. Condolences may be made to Craig's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Craig was born Nov. 16, 1989 in Ontario, OR to Ron and Karen (Lilienthal) Newsom. He attended the Fruitland school district from kindergarten to graduation. After graduation he attended the welding program at TVCC. As a child Craig was very energetic and demonstrated an adventurous spirit. He was always planning and eager to embark on new adventures. He was very good at convincing others to join in his adventures. His enthusiasm was very infectious and he seemed to always get others to help him. During his short life he was able to touch so many lives. He could easily win people over with his sideways smile, his wit and humor. He loved dogs; it is said that a good dog is an excellent judge of character. If this is true Craig had the best character ever, since he could win over even the most wary of canines. Craig loved everything outdoors; hunting fishing, four wheeling and camping. He would look for the slightest excuse to head for the hills to hunt, fish, or cut fire wood. Those of us who knew him where very blessed to call Craig Newsom a friend. We are honored members of a diverse group of both young and old. A few of his friends included Gerald Cowperthwait, Chris Riggs, Travis Dixon, Kyler Dickson, Nate Cox, Cody Fugate, Jeff Galloway, Dale Hendrickson, Cindy and Mike Fortin, Bob and Sue Riggs, Senes and Ellen Orton, and so many more that dearly loved him. He was always faithful, loyal and willing to help. Craig recently shared his acceptance of Jesus Christ as his personal savior. He also shared that he had met the love of his life, Casi Harmon. He is survived by his parents Ron and Karen Newsom; brother Shane Newsom; two sisters Ashley Herron and Laci Newsom; two nephews Wyatt and Weston Newsom; a niece Ella Herron; and numerous family members that loved him dearly. His grandparents Jerry and Shirley Lilienthal and John and Ula Newsom preceded him in death. Craig will be missed by so many.
