Dallas Rae Jurak of Hansen ID (formerly of Hardin, MT) died March 20, 2011 of complications with COPD. She was born October 23, 1937 in Hardin MT to Albert and Doris (Finch) Herman, the oldest of 3 children. Dallas graduated from Hardin High School in 1956 where she excelled in music and art. All through the years we all enjoyed her talents in these two areas, whether through ceramics, paintings or a snippet of a song.
On July 10, 1960, Dallas married Mike Jurak in Sheridan, Wyoming. Mike and Dallas settled in Hardin, Busby, Lame Deer and later in Dubois, Idaho. They had 3 children: Mike, Bert and RaeAnn and they truly wanted more for them than for themselves. Dallas was able to stay at home taking care of her children. She also spent many years raising Quarter Horses and was especially fond of Easy Purple Jet, a stud she bought as a weanling. She loved all horse events, but mostly thrived when watching or participating in horse shows. She also loved watching the foals in the pasture below the house. She enjoyed and studied birds and water fowl and could tell you what they were just by a quick glimpse or a whisper of their song in the distance. Once she moved to Hansen, ID, Mom seldom missed an auction sale where she could possibly find some unique antique. Until her illness took a strong hold, that little pickup and she could be found anywhere in or around the Twin Falls area.
Dallas is survived by her sons Mike (Deena) Jurak of Kimberly, ID and Bert (Susan) Jurak of Button Willow, CA and her daughter, RaeAnn (JD) Svedberg of Hardin, MT. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Jurak and Jessica Schaak, Clay, Nick, Ty, Cole and Jordan Seamans, Zak and Tiffany Jurak and Mesa Svedberg and 9 great grandchildren: Dakota, Mac, Issy, Zoey, Evyn, Kale, Jaxon, Ave and Brayden. She is also survived by her brother, Dale (Mary) Herman of Lodge Grass, MT and her sister, Wilma Herman of Mesquite, TX.
Dallas was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. The family wishes to express a big thank you to St Luke's Hospital in Twin Falls for the care shown to mom. A celebration of Dallas' life will be held Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Bullis Mortuary in Hardin, Montana with a reception to follow. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Hardin. Memorials can be shared with the family at www.whitemortuary.com. Arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary, Twin Falls, Idaho.
