Daniel Edward Conrad 69, beloved father and grandfather, passed away October 7, 2023 with his family by his side. Born August 11, 1954, in Elyria, Ohio, to Lawrence and Elizabeth Conrad (née Maple), he was the second of five siblings. The family moved to Idaho Falls in 1957. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and O.E. Bell Junior High. He attended Idaho Falls High School where he lettered in football and wrestling, graduating in 1972.
While a member of Troop 310, he earned his Eagle Scout with Silver Palm, attended the 1969 World Scout Jamboree in Farragut State Park, ID, and ventured across the mountains of Philmont Scout Ranch, NM.
After high school Dan earned a living trapping in the wilderness surrounding Idaho Falls until he settled on the family farm in 1973, retaining his love of nature throughout his life. It would be here on the farm in Bonneville County that he would spend his remaining 50 years. He farmed fruit, vegetables, raised a menagerie of animals, and ended up focusing on hay so he could further his formal education.
He attained a Bachelors of Science in Secondary Education from Idaho State University. With it, he taught classes at Clair E. Gale Middle School, and worked as an environmental scientist for the INEL. He returned to Idaho State University to achieve an Associates of Science as a Machinist, indulging in his passion to fix stuff. He built a shop on the farm, filled it with tools, and spent the rest of his life working on projects, dead set on making things run.
While on the farm he fathered five children, Jesse Conrad, Josh Conrad, Jake Conrad (Heather), Brett Conrad, and Denise Conrad Milligan (Jaxson). Through them he is further continued by ten grandchildren. He always had his family close by. He spent his last days laughing, smiling, and watching his grandchildren grow and learn."
