Darole Leroy Carpenter was born March 28, 1935 in Brighton, Colorado to Clarence Carpenter and Ethel McKellip Carpenter. His family moved to Idaho in 1936 and settled in the Nampa Meridian area. Darole graduated from Meridian High School. He served in the Navy for 2 years in Guam and Adak, Alaska. While in the Navy, He took up the craft of leather tooling and continued in the art all his life making saddles and other beautiful tooled items. Professionally, Darole supervised the building of log homes all over the West. He also was an active Jehovah Witness. Darole is survived by a son - Jay Morford, (Hawaii); Daughter -Tonya Gillett, (Michigan); and 5 grandchildren, His sister, Imo Jones, (Oregon); and two Nieces, Jeannine Wibbels, and Tammy Howard. and their families, and many friends, who affectionately called him "D.L."
