Darryl C. Dixon died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. He was a beloved husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. Darryl was born at Gray's Chapel, North Carolina, the third child of Henry and Audrey Dixon. He attended school in Coleridge, N.C. and later at Payette. After graduating from Payette High School, he went to the University of Idaho where he received a Degree in Agriculture. He later returned and earned a Master's Degree in School Administration.
He was very active in FFA in high school where he held every office during his time in school. He followed that success by achieving many accolades at the collegiate level as well. Darryl started out as an Ag teacher and later became a principal in his home town of Payette. He was extremely proud of his education career that spanned well over 30 years. Whether he was a classroom teacher or a building principal, he cared about the kids in his charge. He often remarked how lucky he was that "his vocation was also his avocation." He never tired of telling stories about kids and colleagues.
He loved to garden, hunt, appreciated old cars, and was an avid reader (especially John Grisham and Louis L'Amour books).
Darryl leaves behind Mary, his wife of 58 years; his three sons, Bob, James, and Dale; his sister, Jeanie Neese, nephew Kevin, nieces Barbie, and Suzie; his grandchildren, Chris (Sarah) Manser, Lauren Manser, and Hannah Dixon.
Those who knew him will miss his daily jokes and positive attitude. He was a man of immeasurable integrity who always tried to the right thing. He will be missed.
The family would like to thank the Signature Hospice staff: Debbie, Kay, and Robert for helping his last days be peaceful and pain-free. A big shout out to his nurse Sarah for being awesome!
