David Kehsin Wang

January 24, 1919 — July 3, 2011

David Kehsin Wang passed away on July 3, 2011 due to injuries after an accidental fall. David was the youngest of 4 children. Like his siblings, David was born in Beijing, China. His father - Dr. Ching-Chun Wang - was a government official who received his engineering degree in America (Yale University & the University of Illinois). David's mother - Wen Jung Wang, schooled him until the age of 7. David's siblings all learned English from American missionaries at an early age. In 1928,Dr. Wang was assigned by the Chinese government to administer the Boxer Indemnity fund which supported Chinese students studying in America. The entire Wang Family moved to Boulder Colorado. Because of his limited English, David - then in 4h grade - was placed into the 2nd grade. His father was later transferred to London and David completed his high school studies in London. David was a bright student but he also excelled in rugby, track & boxing. He was admitted to MIT where he graduated with a degree in Aeronautical Engineer. He continued to excel in sports, winning a varsity letter in wrestling. After MIT he attended the University of Colorado and assisted in the design and calibration of the Aeronautical lab wind tunnel. As an engineer, David joined Aerojet while living isn southern California and soon became involved in the design of rocket engines. He helped advance this industry during a critical period of American history. David's wife,Jimmy, passed away several years ago. He was active in Idaho Falls, volunteering as a Sunday School teacher and helping Senior Citizens with taxes. He loved golf and enjoyed the company of many close friends. David leaves behind his close friend Thelma Ising, many good neighbors, his cat Vern and nieces and nephews who found him to be such a cool and generous uncle. He wold often remark that he felt he didn't make such an impact on society when compared, he felt, to the historic contributions of his father. But David Kehsin Wang was wrong, He made a difference in our lives. Memorial services and a pot luck dinner were held on July 5, 2011 at the First Christian Church. Memorial services were held earlier this week. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls. Donations in David Wang's memory may be sent to, Dr. & Mrs. C.C.
