Derryl Lynn Futrell passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2014 following a long 3 year battle with A.L.S.
He was born on March 17, 1946 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Nola Ramsay Futrell and Conrad Roy Futrell. As a child he was raised in Buhl and later made Filer his home. Derryl was a graduate of Buhl High School. He served his country proudly for 6 years in the Idaho National Guard.
He worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and Mechanic, in heavy and highway construction in Idaho, Nevada, Wyoming and Montana from the time he graduated till he retired in 2004.
Derryl loved to travel, where he made many friends both here and across the border. His leisure time was spent camping, hunting, trap/skeet shooting and snowmobiling with his best friend, Nyle Winn.
He met his soul mate, Anita Mangrum in January 2007 and they were married April 20, 2012. They spent 4 years going to Kino Bay, Mexico and when he got in a wheelchair they took 3 cruises.
De was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, David Dean Futrell and Dennis Wayne Futrell as well as his sister, Arlene Lois Futrell. He is survived by his wife, Anita Futrell of Filer; brother, Conrad Roy Futrell of Libby, Montana; his sisters, Audrie Lee Whity of Newport News, Virginia and Shirley Jean (Robert) Brown of Troy, Montana as well as his beloved dogs, Issa Belle, Ozer and Crunch.
A celebration of Derryl's life will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 16, 2014 at his home, 2138 East 3979 North in Filer, Idaho. Arrangements are under the direction of White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls.
In remembrance of Derryl, the family suggests planting a plant or bush in your yard that will bloom every year in his honor.
