Donald A Armour

July 27, 1954 — February 27, 2012

Donald Alexander Armour. July 27, 1954 - February 27, 2012.
Early Monday morning, Don lost a tumultuous battle with cancer. Although Don was born in Boston, he spent many of his formative years in California before relocating to Idaho as a teenager. Born and raised by Sam Armour, MIT educated engineer, and Ilse Armour, prototypical German academic, Don's childhood was filled with the structure and academic color of the sort that can almost guarantee rebellion. And, rebel he did. As a young man, Don declared that he would never lead the stuffy life of a scientist and he managed to stick to that promise . . . for a while. This rebellion eventually backfired, and Don spent several decades building a successful and rewarding career in the nuclear energy industry.
What really set Don apart was his magnetic personality. He truly was the life of every party, captivating the most crowded rooms with tales of boar hunting in Tennessee, sailing the Virgin Islands, deep-sea fishing, and Harley trips through the mountains and along the coast. But don't let that big beard, Harley dude exterior fool you-he was the proud owner of one of the biggest hearts in the world (no exaggeration) and was always willing to offer a hand to friends (or even strangers) in need. Don touched the lives of nearly everyone he encountered and it is one of history's biggest understatements to say that he will be greatly missed.
Don is survived by his wife Kimberly Armour and two stepchildren, Ryan Johnson and Nichole Johnson (Kasey Westergard). Don is also survived by his first wife Cindy (Woolf) Stolworthy and their five children, Jennifer Karmely (Ivo Karmely), Alexander Armour (Hortensia Armour), Ashley Kittrell (Mark Kittrell), Courtney Armour, and Josef Armour. Last, but not least, Don is survived by six beloved grandchildren, Jasmine Johnson, Katlyn Johnson, Jayda Karmely, Manny Karmely, Trikyn Westergard, and Alexander Armour, Jr. Don was preceded into the hereafter by his parents Samuel and Ilse Armour, and his siblings, Andrea Armour, Braden Armour, and Helmut Armour.
