Donald Raymond Harvey

On Sunday, September 9, 2018, Donald ‘Don' Raymond Harvey, Sr., loving husband, dad, and papa passed peacefully at home at the age of 70. Loved by many, Don led an amazing life with many accomplishments. Born December 6, 1947 to Glenn Avery and Eva Marie (Lord) Harvey, Don was the oldest of 8 children. After graduating from Idaho Falls High School, Don received his religious calling and left for Germany where he served his 2-year mission for the LDS Church. When he returned home, he met his soul mate, and knowing he found ‘the one' he married Patricia Sue (Sumpter) Harvey after only 7 weeks. Together Don and Pat embarked on a 47-year journey becoming parents, grandparents, and great-grandparents; navigating life's joys and sorrows through love and support of each other. Family wasn't all Don was devoted to; his passion for his education and a love of numbers resulted in a successful career. While working full-time, Don earned his bachelor's degree from Eastern Oregon University, and an MBA from Portland State. Don's degrees turn his ‘kickin onions out of the back of a truck' job into a career as the Cost Accountant for Ore-Ida Foods. Don retired his ‘bean counter' livelihood after 37 years with Ore-Ida and embarked on his next chapter; retirement with Pat. Retirement found Don and Pat hitting the open road as they explored the US, though his favorite destination was their condo in Depoe Bay, OR. Don spent many hours staring out over the ocean waves, watching for water spouts from the whales wandering up and down the coastline. In addition, he was a loyal fan of his BSU Broncos and loved the fall football season. Don's family will always remember him through his quirky songs and bad jokes. He is preceded into heaven after his father Glenn, mother Eva Marie, and in-law's Ray and Darlene Sumpter. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat, daughter's Michelle (Ron) Petet and Paula (Clint) Koch, son Donald Jr, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and his siblings. Services for Don will be held 10AM on September 24, 2018, at the Church of Latter-Day Saints in Payette, ID. Services are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette.
