Donn Cahill, an Irishman known for his helping hand and merry disposition went home to be with the Lord December 26th. As a devoted husband and loving father he is survived by his wife, Sharon Carico Cahill and their three daughters and husbands: Carrie and George Bowers, Maura and Tracy Rasmussen, and Shawna and Mark Hagerty. Families consist of ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Donn lived an active lifestyle making for some great stories, stories about growing up on his parents' (Jim and Alene Cahill) ranch in Crystal, ID with three siblings, attending a one room school house, and participating in boxing, football, and track at Payette High School. Enlisting in the Air Force at the outbreak of the Korean War, later gave him the opportunity to attend Utah State University, where he received a B.S. in Entomology. This allowed him to work forty years for the U.S. Forest Service at a job that he absolutely loved, exploring mountains and forests in eight states and Canada. After retiring, Donn became very active in the Boise Bench Lions Club. He served as president, was a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Life Member, a Hallock-Wehmann recipient, and was Lion of the Year in1992-93 and again 1994-95. The PAWS project was very near and dear to his heart. He was also an active volunteer at the VA Hospital. Come join family and friends as we celebrate Donn's life during a wake conducted at the Ha' Penny Bridge Pub, 855 Broad Street in downtown Boise. Drop in between 2pm and 5pm on December 30th.
