Donovan Lee Kohler, 68 of Idaho Fallls, ID, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 after a long illness. He was born on September 26, 1947 in Fairbury, NE to Clarence J. and Mabel Fern (Hurley) Kohler. He was raised in Fairbury until the sixth grade when the family came to Pocatello. He graduated from Pocatello High School, Class of 1965. He was drafted into the US Army, and served in the 11th Armored Calvary, Black Horse Regimen and served in Vietnam from 1967-1968. Don lived much of his life in Pocatello where he worked as a relay repairman in the signal shop for the Union Pacific Railroad. In the 90's, he worked for the Eastern Idaho Railroad as a signal maintainer, repairing railroad signals from Twin Falls to St. Anthony, ID where he worked until 2004. He moved with his family to Idaho Falls in 2001. Don enjoyed camping, hiking, fly-tying and fly-fishing, mountain biking, and was an automobile enthusiast. Don is survived by his wife Diane of Idaho Falls; children: John Kohler of Idaho Falls, Erin Kohler and her husband Kevin Woodall, and Ryan Kohler both of Boise; brothers: Vernon Kohler and wife Dixie of Lincoln, NE and Dale Kohler and wife Donna of Pocatello, ID; sisters: Carol Myers and husband Kenny and Cheryl Sebold, both of Pocatello. He was preceded in death by his parents.
