Dorothy Ann Longhurst

Dorothy ‘Ann' Longhurst, 78 of Idaho Falls, died October 19, 2012 in a Salt Lake City hospital after complications from an aneurism. Ann was born July 7, 1934 at Idaho Falls, to Ellis J. and Mary M. Johnson Pelot. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1952.
On November 9, 1953 Ann married Jim Stark. Three children were born to this marriage, Linda, Jim Jr., and Cindy. The marriage ended in divorce in 1975. Shortly after, Ann joined, and became secretary for, Parents Without Partners (PWP). That is where she met Harold Longhurst of Shelley. On January 30, 1977, they were married. Harold died January 21, 1993.
Ann worked for Phillips Petroleum Company at both the INL site and in town. She also worked for Farmers Home Administration. Her retirement in 1988 followed 23 years of employment with Production Credit Association in Idaho Falls.
Ann had enchanting dimples that made you want to make her smile. Whenever she was going out to eat with family or friends, Ann was always ready with a coupon to lessen the cost. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, needlework, shopping and spending time with friends and family.
Ann is survived by her three children, Linda K. (Matthew) Johns, Jim Stark Jr. of Idaho Falls, and Cindy (Tim Deck) Stark of Nampa, Idaho. She is also survived by her siblings Ida Bush, Janet (Lyle) Call, Mark (Terrie) Pelot, Betty Jean (Vinnie Sowder) Pelot, and Lew Pelot all of Idaho Falls, Dolores Park of Ririe, and Alfred Pelot of Meridian, Idaho, as well as nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Ann was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Monte Ellis. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012, at Calvary Chapel, 4250 S. 25th E. in Idaho Falls, with Pastor Rick Brown, officiating. Burial will follow at the Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held at the church one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday.
