Douglas K Reilly

August 17, 1946 — March 2, 2015

Douglas K. Reilly was born in Portland, Oregon, on August 7, 1946, to Kenneth R. Reilly and Lucille Reilly. He moved to Idaho Falls in 1950, attended Holy Rosary and graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Doug attended the University of Nebraska Medical School, where he graduated in 1974 with a degree in Internal Medicine. Dr. Reilly practiced Internal Medicine for two years in Nebraska before continuing his education in New York, specializing in Pharmacology. He then obtained a degree in Psychiatry. He practiced in Alaska for ten years, in Casper, Wyoming, for three years and then moved back to Idaho Falls, where he practiced Psychiatry for the remainder of his career. He worked in private practice as an Outpatient Psychiatrist as well as for the Behavioral Health Center at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Kim Reilly; two sisters, Patricia Clark and Pamela Bartlett; and two children from a previous marriage, Elizabeth Green and Michael Reilly. Doug was a very private and introverted person. For those who knew him, he was an extraordinary man with many talents and interests. During his many years of practice in Psychiatry, he helped innumerable people improve their lives and overcome mental health issues. Those he helped would say he showed great empathy, love and kindness. His patients, colleagues, staff and friends admired Dr. Reilly. He loved to play fantasy football with many of his colleagues and spent hours researching players and teams. He enjoyed playing cards. He loved to read and educate himself. Above all, he loved Notre Dame, as he was a devout Catholic and a spiritual man. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, corner of 9th and Lee in Idaho Falls.
