Dwight Ardell Finuf of Idaho Falls, Idaho, age 93, passed away July 19, 2018. He was born October 1, 1924. Dwight was born in Westmoreland, KS and later moved on to Manhattan, KS where he graduated in 1942. He was drafted into the Army Corp of Engineers. He served his country from 1943 to 1946 in the 165th Engineer Construction Battalion. He was a member of the Church of Christ being baptized at the age of 10 and served as a Deacon in Ventura, CA. He always remained faithful to the church. Dwight was married to Troy Marie Talkington, they spent 54 happy years together and had 2 sons.
Dwight worked at several jobs, he was an electronic tech for USC at Point Mugu, CA wind tunnel
and retired from Northrop Aviation Company where he was engineer assistant in the environmental test lab, testing and recording instrument readings for the recovery parachute system Mercury, Gemini and the Apollo space program. But his big love had always been Amateur radio, licensed in 1954 his call was K6LOV. He was widely known in several states on the 2 meter Intermountain Intertie System as a control operator.
Surviving members of his family are grandchildren; Erica (Shane) Rine of Three Rivers, MI, Nicholas (Tristin) Finuf of Pocatello, ID and Colleen Finuf of Inkom, ID, and 5 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Deklan, Maverick, McKinley Rine and Zeldon Finuf. Dwight was preceded in death by his wife, Troy and his 2 sons Randy and Ronnie Finuf.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 2 pm with a visitation starting at 1 pm at Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home. Military rites will follow funeral services.
