Wes was born Nov. 3, 1924 in Grangeville, ID to Gene Hensley and Laura Stiles. His father was a woodsman in the Northwest and moved his family frequently for work. Eventually, his mother, Laura, moved with her children to Fruitland, ID and later settled in Ontario, OR where he graduated from Ontario High School. Following his graduation he was drafted to serve the U.S. following the outbreak of WWII. He was placed with an Army unit that was deployed to the European theatre where he spent nearly three years in England, France and Belgium.
After returning from the war, he moved back to Ontario and married Floy Martin of Vale, OR. Together they raised three children, Laretta, Pam and Tim. He spent his career in the lumber industry and retired with Western Wood Products in the mid-1970s. He spent his retirement in Fruitland, ID where he spent time with family, friends and watched his grandchildren play sports.
He loved his family, music, dancing, the outdoors and singing at local senior citizen functions. As a veteran he loved his country and always prayed for "our soldier boys" who served in overseas military campaigns. He was known for his tender heart, big smile and his humble way of life. He leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, hard work, humility, love, charity and the love he had for his Savior, Jesus Christ.
