Edward Arthur John, 75, passed away May 16, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at home of natural causes. Condolences may be made to Edward's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Ed was born May 25, 1935, in Caldwell, ID, the son of Kenneth L. and Edna E. John. He attended school in Parma and was a graduate of the University of Idaho (GO VANDALS!) with a BS in Business Administration. Ed married Dorothy M. Cavallier of Parma in 1958 and spent the next 30 years raising four daughters at their homes in Burley and Payette, ID. Ed was employed by the State of Idaho, Department of Employment both in Burley and later in Payette. Ed was actively involved in the Jaycees in Burley and Payette where he was elected President of the Idaho State Jaycees. Ed and Dorothy divorced in 1981. Ed married Marlene Leavitt-Mordhorst in 1986. He retired from the Department of Employment in 1987 to pursue his live long hobbies of hunting and fishing full time. Ed and Marlene founded Tri State Bass Association and were avid fishermen until Marlene's health declined. Marlene passed in 1996 and Ed continued his love of outdoor adventure on his own internationally. His love of angling encompassed numerous international waters including Peru, Mexico, Canada, Alaska and across the U.S. He enjoyed his condo in Tahisis, BC and winters in Arizona. In his younger days, Ed was an enthusiastic big game hunter bagging many trophy big horn sheep, elk and mule deer. Ed's passions and joys included ATV-ing, fishing, mushroom hunting, playing cards, football, NASCAR, jigsaw puzzles, reading and joking with his coffee buddies at Meachans every day. Ed is survived by his longtime friend, Dorothy "Cricket" Ballard, sister Judy Turner of Grangeville, daughters Valerie (Terry) Lenhartzen of Nampa, Vonnie (Tim) Acevez of Payette, Vickie (Tony) Moss of McCall, and Vanessa (Greg) Skinner of Broomfield, CO, along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad will be missed for his easy smile, amiable demeanor, wonderful sense of humor and sage advice. 2030 Moss Drive was the destined meeting place where we enjoyed the celebration of many, many happy family gatherings. He was our "go to guy" always willing to lend a hand and guidance where needed. A special thank you to Care at Home and XL Hospice for their compassion and professionalism in our time of need. In Ed's honor, donations may be made to XL Hospice, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, ID 83661.
