Edward Albert Sandlin passed away August 12, 2012. Ed was born in Sacramento, CA on January 1, 1927, the son of Horatio and Daisy Sandlin. Ed served as a machinist mate in the US Navy during WWII. In 1957, Ed and his good friend Russ Johnson started Me-n-Ed's Pizza. Ed and Russ opened 22 Me-n-Ed's restaurants in California and later sold his share of the business to Russ in 1965 so that he and his wife Kae could move to Idaho. Ed enjoyed the outdoors; he was an avid bird hunter and fisherman. Ed opened the first Idaho Me-n-Ed's in Twin Falls in 1966 and with his stepson Bruce Culp later opened 4 other restaurants in Idaho and one in Montana. In later years, Ed volunteered at the Museum of Idaho and as head usher at the Colonial Theater.
Ed was a very gentle soul who never had anything bad to say about anyone. With his ready laugh and ear to ear smile, and oh what ears he had, Ed was a person that you could not help but like. Ed will be missed by all who knew him.
At Edward's request private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home in Idaho Falls.
