Elaine Pettingill

Elaine Pettingill, 75, of Twin Falls passed away Wednesday May 30, 2012 at Country Living Assisted Living in Buhl, Idaho. She was born June 14, 1936 in Preston, Idaho to Reed G. Stockdale and Jean Fife. She was raised in Franklin, Idaho and attended Preston High School.
After graduation she attended Utah State University and later the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City where she met the love of her life, Lynn Pettingill. A short time later they were married and sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on September 17, 1956. Together they had five children, one of which passed away at the age of 18 months. Within a year of marriage the couple moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where Lynn acquired a sewing machine dealership. Lynn later acquired Kinetico of Magic Valley and Vacuum Cleaners of Idaho.
Elaine began working as a teller for First Federal Bank until their second child was born. In 1979 she did clerical work for Young's Dairy until her retirement. She loved reading and was a member of a literary club for 40 years of which she was the oldest surviving original member. She was a masterful seamstress and hand made her children's clothing for many years. She enjoyed painting ceramics and decorating her home with them.
Elaine was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She and Lynn had the opportunity to serve together in the Boise, Idaho LDS temple for seven years.
Her family brought her the greatest joy and she is preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Alene Pettingill.
She is survived by her husband, Lynn Pettingill; her two brothers, Waldo "Bud" Fife Stockdale and Reed "Gordon" Stockdale; four children and their spouses, Kerry (Julie) Pettingill and Wade (Vernae) Pettingill of Twin Falls, Karen (Kelly) Gleave and Sally (Garth) Liechty of Mesa, Arizona; as well as 19 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are under the direction of Lance Cox and the staff at White Mortuary and will be held Monday, June 4, 2012 at 10:00am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 851 Harrison St on the corner of Orchard and Harrison, with viewing an hour prior. Bishop Dan Arrington will officiate. Burial will take place Monday afternoon at 4:00pm at the Franklin, Idaho Cemetery. A visitation will be held Sunday June 3, 2012 at White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park" from 6-8pm.
