Eldon Louis Adams

May 29, 1920 — May 2, 2014

Eldon Louis Adams, 93, of Boise and formerly of Payette, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014 at a Boise care facility. Graveside memorial services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 30th at Riverside Cemetery, Payette. Services and arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Condolences may be made to Eldon's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Eldon was born in Coleridge, Nebraska on May 29, 1920 to Louis and Cecil Adams. The family moved to Idaho when Eldon was in his teens. He attended school in Kuna. Eldon married Lois McNutt, a girl he had gone to school with, in 1940. He joined the Army National Guard, and in 1942 to 1945 was in active duty in Europe during WWII; after the war Eldon and his family settled in Payette. Eldon worked for the railroad for a number of years but spent a great many of his working years at Wells & Davies Meat Packing. After Lois passed away in 1975, Eldon married Mary Johnstone. They went on to be married for another 33 years. During those years Eldon and Mary lived in Ontario and Nampa before settling in Payette. In 2004 they moved to Boise where they had lived since. Eldon liked to fish and hunt, and for years went on hunting trips with Lorry Coons, his hunting buddy, but when Lorry passed on, Eldon quit hunting. He loved watching his grandkids play sports, and attended their games faithfully. He was a big baseball fan and never missed watching the World Series games. In later years he enjoyed fixing small engines and growing nice tomatoes and strawberries. Eldon's first wife Lois, his second wife Mary; a son Gene and daughter Jan; three step children, Archie, Jack and Jerry; grandson BJ and great-granddaughter Hailey, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Carol Guiterrez of Santa Monica, son Gary Adams (Dolores) of Ontario, step-daughter Jeanie Loera of Boise, sisters Darlene, Vivien and Lorraine; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who all loved him and will miss him. The family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation, c/o Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, P.O. Box 730, Payette, Idaho 83661.
