Eleanor Rose (Reichert) Rosenof passed away Saturday evening, November 17, 2012 in the loving embrace of family members.
Eleanor was born on July 4, 1935 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Fred and Mildred Reichert. She was the family's Fourth of July baby. She grew up on the family farm near Filer and attended Poplar Hill School and then Filer High School. Her parents were very special to her, as were her big sister and two big brothers. Eleanor and her sister Doris were the best of friends. They always shared a special bond and affection for each other. Mom cherished many wonderful memories of fun times with her big brothers whom she looked up to and admired. In high school, she was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, in addition to other school groups and clubs. After graduating from Filer High School, Eleanor attended college in Denver and later attended the Twin Falls Business College. This followed with work as a legal secretary for a local law firm.
She married Ernest McCollum in 1956, continuing to work as he finished school in Moscow. After their return to Twin Falls, Eleanor became a mom to Teri, and to Lisa two years later. She and Ernie were later divorced. Eleanor married DuWayne Rosenof in 1966. The entire family welcomed new baby Kay later that year. Mom's children were very special to her. Her love and care for us was shown in many ways, from her ever-present worrying about our safety to her many hugs she loved to give us. Eleanor was a wonderful cook, faithfully providing delicious meals every evening. She always made sure her family was fed well and taken care of. Her fried chicken and potatoes and gravy on Sunday evenings when her kids were younger have been remembered as home cooking at its best. She always made sure her house was clean and tidy. Even when it was beyond clean, she never felt it was clean enough. To polish it all off, she maintained the yard and flowers with laborious care, presenting a very welcoming country abode.
Eleanor and DuWayne enjoyed camping , pinochle and weekend breakfasts with friends. They also loved having family over for holidays or simply for the fun of it. As the children spread out, vacations included travel to various destinations. Mom became an avid reader in her later years, always enjoying a good book. This led to more sharing of ideas and recommendations among her and her daughters.
Eleanor was a devoted daughter to her mom, as she visited her most every day. She took time out of every day to just sit and chat with her mom and do whatever she could to help her for many years. Additionally, Eleanor so enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were her source of joy and their abundance of sunshine and happiness was reflected in her face whenever she was with them. She was dearly loved by all of them, now leaving a very sad void.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Raymond Reichert and Elmer Reichert; and husband, DuWayne. She is survived by her sister, Doris Mogensen; daughters, Teri (Ron) Moody, Lisa (Rusty) Kennedy, and Kay (Todd) Wright; grandchildren, Melissa Stone, Katrina Becker, Nate Moody, Malori Wright, and Dan Moody; and five great-grandchildren, Josie, Brielle, Julia, Jackson, and Bradley.
The family wishes to thank all of the caring staff at Bridgeview Estates. Mom was cared for with kindness, professionalism and dignity up to her last breath and beyond.
Funeral services will be held at White Mortuary Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. and are under the direction of Lance Cox and staff. Interment will follow at the Filer cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that tributes in Mom's name be made to the charity of choice.
