Elizabeth Derr passed away at MorningStar Senior Living Facility, Idaho Falls on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at the age of 88 of heart failure. Elizabeth was born on 4 November 1929 in Wayne N.J., to Emil and Elizabeth Breuer. She graduated from Clifton High School in 1947. Elizabeth married Warren Steinbach and the couple had one child, they later divorced. Elizabeth then married Kenneth E. Derr and moved to Pompton Lakes N.J., where they raised four children. Elizabeth worked for Bell Telephone, Pettit Insurance Agency in Pompton Lakes, and also waitressed at times. After her husband retired they moved to Myerstown, Pa. where Elizabeth continued to work for Bell Telephone in Lancaster Pa. until her retirement. Elizabeth and her husband relocated to Idaho Falls to be closer to their children where they resided at MorningStar Senior Living Facility. Elizabeth and her husband were active and dedicated members of Friedens Lutheran Church of Myerstown, Pa. They often volunteered at the gift shop in Spang Crest Manor, Lebanon, Pa. They were active in various outdoor clubs both in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which included hiking, biking and cross-country skiing. Elizabeth was a member of the Audubon Society, and volunteered as an usher at the Hershey Theater in Pa. She loved bird watching and had numerous bird feeders at her Pennsylvania home. She also loved board games (such as scrabble), reading, and entertaining friends. Elizabeth is survived by her children, Kurt Derr (Jill) of Idaho Falls, Carl Derr of Haskell, N.J., Lisa Harvey of Albuquerque, N.M., and Eric Derr of Ventnor, N.J.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, sister Lillian and brother Wallace. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th St. Burial will take place at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery in Boise. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at MorningStar Senior Living Facility where she received special care and attention until her passing. Staff members quickly caught on to Elizabeth's love for coffee and made sure it was readily available to her throughout each day.
