IDAHO FALLS - Elizabeth Emmajean Kocsis 89, of Idaho Falls passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Mount Vernon Assisted Living Center in Idaho Falls. She was in the compassionate care of Creekside Hospice. Elizabeth was born in the town of Walkill, NY on December 1, 1922 to Edward F. Lybolt and Osa Mae Denton Lybolt. She spent her early years in New York and graduated Valedictorian from Pilgrim Grammar School in 1939. She was married to Frank J. Kocsis, Jr. on April 3, 1944. They later divorced. Elizabeth was a special lady who dedicated herself to helping those around her. She was a long time volunteer for the Idaho Special Olympics, an organization near and dear to her heart. She volunteered in many endeavors, working with FISH (Friends in Service Here), a committee of the Regional Council for Christian Ministry. She was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America as a volunteer with Disabled Troop 555 for many years. For her numerous years of selfless service, she was awarded the coveted Silver Beaver award. She deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed helping those in need, and could always be found making a quilt. She was especially proud of receiving blue ribbons on her quilts for 12 straight years at the Fair. She is survived by her children, Frank J. (Georgann) Kocsis, III of Idaho Falls, ID, and daughters Carol (Ernest) Rossini of Fairfax Station, VA, Wendy (Christopher) Schoonmaker, and Elizabeth "Betsy" Kocsis, both of Idaho Falls, ID. She leaves 8 grandchildren: Linda Ashpole, John Kocsis, Michael Rossini, Jessica Pedersen, Diane Rossini, Connie Rossini, Marc Schoonmaker and Andrew Schoonmaker and 5 great grandchildren: Samantha Kocsis, Ryan Ashpole, Madelyn Ashpole, Gabrielle Kocsis, and Cameron Kocsis. She is preceded in death by her mother, father, and brothers Edward F. Lybolt Jr., and Robert Lybolt, sisters Pauline Leidy and Christine Palozzola. She was joined in death on Tuesday by her sister Annie Bruning of Apollo Beach, Florida, who passed away just hours after Elizabeth. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Buck-Miller-Hann Funeral Home, 825 E. 17th Street, Idaho Falls, Idaho with Pastor Kenny McMurphy officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
