Elizabeth Amelia Newberry passed away February 11, 2018 at Fairwinds Sand Creek, Idaho Falls, Idaho.
She was born to Arthur and Mabel Trively in Malvern, Iowa, on September 2, 1924.
She moved to Hood River, Oregon at the age of sixteen and later met Louie Newberry. They married March 25, 1944 while he was in the Marines during WWII.
They settled in Hood River where they built a home and had four daughters.
In 1956, they moved to Downey, California. She was active at the First Baptist Church of Downey in a variety of capacities. There she used her many talents from teaching, organizing a library, and speaking at women's ministries to decorating for special events. She did the bookkeeping for the family business, Elmer's Body Shop.
Her lifetime hobbies included oil painting, crafting, journaling and crocheting.
After retiring in 1986, they moved full time to Idaho Falls where she was involved with KT's Treasures and began quilting with local quilt clubs. She continued to be active at Eagle Rock Baptist Church and Alliance Covenant Church.
As a couple, they spent time traveling the United States and Canada in their motorhome. They were married for 73 years when Louie passed in September 2017.
She is survived by their daughters; Joyce(Reed) Carlson, Katie (Bruce) Gay, Peggy Mickelsen and son-in-law Willis Leach.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Louie Newberry; her daughter, Linda Leach; and her son-in-law, Greg Mickelsen. She had 10 grandchildren and 18 great- grandchildren.
The family is very thankful for the excellent compassion and care Louie and Elizabeth received while residing at Fairwinds.
