Elmer Thiel

Elmer Thiel, 90, of Payette, ID passed away Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at St. Alphonsus Medical Center - Boise. A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 9th at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, Payette. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10th at Riverside Cemetery, Payette with Pastor James Aalgaard officiating. Condolences may be offered to Elmer's family at www.shaffer-jensenchapel.com. Elmer was born July 20, 1922 to Henry and Katherine Thiel in Nampa, ID. He was the youngest of six children who all preceded him in death. Elmer married Barbara Shearer May 22, 1942 in Caldwell, ID. Together they raised five children while farming and ranching throughout the Treasure Valley, settling in Payette, ID. He spent his life farming, raising cattle and trucking. They celebrated 69 years of marriage prior to Barbara's death in 2011. Elmer is survived by his children, Robert E. Thiel (Glenna), Joyce McCurdy (Don), and Bonnie Davis (Allen); grandchildren, James Thiel, Jr., Niki Edwards (Sam), Randy McCurdy (Wendy), Candi Strong (Indra), Douglas McCurdy, Ryan Davis, Jennifer Gibson (Ted), and Jessica Davis; several great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; two sons, James and William Thiel; his parents; three brothers and two sisters.
