Eric Bryan Gallegos passed away peacefully Wednesday March 2, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving mother Karen, and his long time significant other, Jessica; just six days shy of this 49th birthday. Eric was born on March 8, 1973 in Pocatello, Idaho to Karen and Alfred Gallegos Jr. When he was two, he became an older brother to Evan. When Eric was younger, he enjoyed riding bikes all over Blackfoot, ID with his best friend, Denny Hacking. Eric and Denny were inseparable as were their two little brothers Evan and Grant. And so, the lifelong union of friendship began, the friends became brothers.
Eric’s love for fixing cars started after taking automotive classes in high school for 3 years which lead to his career beginning at Blackfoot Motors when he was just 17 years old. He graduated from Blackfoot High School in 1991 and went on to earn his associates degree in automotive technology from CSI. This led to him being an automotive technician for 31 years. During that time, he worked at Smith and Tadd Jenkins Chevrolet where he furthered his knowledge and helped train the next generation of automotive technicians.
Eric married Lori Cathey in 1994, they were later divorced. From this union his son, Ryan, was born. In 2010 he met his life partner, Jessica Peiffer and inherited two step children, Matt and Jillian. Eric loved showing support to his family, he was often found at sporting events, backyard barbeques and any other achievement that required celebration. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially creek fishing, hunting, camping and boating. Eric became a grandpa to Beckett Ellis Gallegos on December 10, 2021.
He is survived by: his grandparents Katherine and Fred Gallegos, parents Karen and Fred Jr. Gallegos, significant other Jessica Peiffer, step children Matt Peiffer and Jillian Peiffer; son Ryan Gallegos (Jessica), grandson Beckett, nephew Evan Gallegos, and best friend/brother Denny Hacking (Norma) as well as his large extended family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Evan Gallegos, grandparents Lloyd and Bonnie Larsen, Uncle Reno Davis, cousin Shaun Davis, and lifelong friend Grant Hacking.
Although Eric will be missed by all, we are happy he is no longer in pain. We can’t imagine the beautiful reunion between Eric and Evan, heaven got a little brighter, and probably a little louder too.
