Faye Lorene Kochneff

May 8, 1921 — October 5, 2011

Born the daughter of William Allen Holland and Josephine Casten Holland on May 8, 1921 in Wyman, Iowa, she was raised in Iowa. Her father died when she was five years old, but Faye stayed with her older sister, Lois, caring for their mother. Faye graduated from Washington High School in 1939 working several jobs to help make ends meet at home. The friends she made in Washington, Iowa remained lifetime friends of hers. In the spring of 1948, Faye met the "love of her life", Alex, when she and a friend decided to take golf lessons. He was their instructor. Alex asked Faye to a dance and walked her there. Faye was apprehensive about accepting the date because she was not sure Alex could dance as well as she (he knew how to dance). Afterwards, they sat on the front porch and talked for hour upon hour. Three months later on 6/27/1948 they married and remained married for 62 years until Alex's death 11/14/2010. She said she knew she loved Alex because during the short courtship, he could dance and brought her yellow roses when she became ill and saw her looking at her worst. Faye stayed in Iowa with Alex raising their three children until August of 1970 when they moved the family from Mt. Pleasant, Iowa to Twin Falls, Idaho to start Alex's business Fountain Service of Idaho. She helped Alex find their "dream home" in Twin Falls where they lived for 40 years. She not only loved that home, but she especially loved the weeping birch tree Alex planted there on her birthday. It was fondly referred to as her "birchday" gift. Here, she helped Alex with the bookkeeping of the business until he retired from that business in the late 1980's. She continued to help with the bookkeeping as he transitioned from Fountain Service into a recycling business where he worked tirelessly until the age of 91. During those years, Faye made friends wherever she went whether it was at church, the grocery store, hairdresser, Bridge, bowling, Sojourner Club, or Bible study. Faye is survived by her three children: William Allen, Thomas Lee (Elizabeth) and Nancy. Faye will best be remembered for her soft-spoken ways, sweet nature and love of God, family, trees, birds and roses. "God speaks in gentle whispers on the wind, in warm rays of sunshine and in the beauty of nature." The Kochneff family would like to thank Hospice Visions and Home Care Options for taking such good care of Faye. They have gone above and beyond in order to provide a much-needed service. At Faye's request, no services will be held. Cremation is under the direction of White Mortuary "Chapel by the Park". Memorial donations may be made in Faye's name to Hospice Visions.
