Fernando "Ferd" Dominguez, age 90, passed away Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015 at his home of natural causes. A vigil service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 14th at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 900 NW 7th St., Fruitland. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15th at Cloverdale Park Cemetery, 1200 N Cloverdale Rd, Boise, ID. Ferd was born on Nov. 18, 1924 in El Paso, TX to Zenon and Josephina Dominguez. Ferd moved to Fresno, CA with his family where he graduated from Washington Union High School in 1942. Soon after graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944 until his honorable discharge in 1946. During his military service Ferd was assigned to the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment in Europe where he was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, with three Bronze Service Stars, a Purple Heart, the World War II Victory Medal, Bronze Star, Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar, Parachutist Badge, Good Conduct Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp. After service to his country he moved back home to Fresno for a brief time until relocating to San Jose, CA where he was employed with Bekins moving and storage for 42 years. Soon after gaining his long employment with Bekins he met MaryLou Miller with who he had two sons, Kyle and Steve. Ferd retired from Bekins in 1990; soon after Ferd retired he met Geraldine Silva who he spent the last 23 years until her passing in 2014. After her passing, Ferd relocated to Fruitland to be close to his sons and their families. Ferd enjoyed all sports, especially his Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's. Ferd also enjoyed reading and in earlier years, traveling. Ferd is survived by his sister, Lola Reed of Fresno, CA; his sons, Kyle Dominguez of Cheyenne, WY and Steve Dominguez of Fruitland, ID; and his grandchildren, Kyle Jr., Sarah, Zach, Joey, Molly, Nicholas (Erin), Taylor, Izzy, and Christian. He is preceded in death by his parents, Zenon and Josephina; his sister, Jean Carrillo; and his brothers, Lenard, Ralph, and Jonny.
