Florence Gene Tipton

Florence was born on May 31, 1925 in Idaho Falls, Idaho the daughter of Wallace and Helen Angel Kaufman. . She grew up and attended schools in Idaho Falls, Jerome, Wendell and Twin Falls. Following her high school graduation from Wendell in 1943, she furthered her education at the Twin Falls Business College. Florence managed the Magic Valley Guest home for many years and then worked for 23 years at Idaho Frozen Foods until she retired. On May 1, 1943, Florence married C.W. Tipton in Elko, Nevada. Together they raised four children, Clarissa, Rodney, David, and Melvin. Florence enjoyed crocheting, gardening, canning, fishing, and reading. Her love was her family and lending a helping hand whenever needed. She was a faithful member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Hansen for many years. Florence is survived by her four children, Clarissa (Wayne) Wagstaff of Bountiful, Utah; Rodney J. Tipton of Dover Plains, New York; David C. Tipton of Kimberly, Idaho; and Melvin R. (Judy) Tipton of Murtaugh, Idaho. Her sisters Carol (Ross) Shepherd; Geraldine K. Pickett; and Polly (Kay) Fackrell and her brother, Charles (Patricia) Kauffman. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren as wells as many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1983, her sister and brother-in-law, Donna and George Fiala as well as another brother-in-law, Gerald Pickett. The family wishes to thank Kristal Parish (granddaughter) for her special care given to her grandmother. We would also like to express or thanks to Hospice Visions staff John Armbruster, RN and Amira Duheric, CNA for their professional and compassionate care given to Florence in her final days. We would also like to acknowledge and thank all of the other health care providers that have given extra loving care to Florence during her many years on this earth. A celebration of Florence's life will be held at 10:00 am on Monday July 30, 2012 at White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, 136 4th Ave. East, Twin Falls with Pastor Todd Rice of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Hansen officiating. Burial will follow at Twin Falls Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held on Sunday July 29, 2012 from 4-7 pm at White Mortuary, Twin Falls. Services are under the direction of Trent Stimpson and staff at White Mortuary, Chapel by the Park, Twin Falls.
