Frank John Kocsis, Jr., age 96, passed away surrounded by his family in Idaho Falls, Idaho on January 30, 2019. He was born on December 14, 1922 in Brooklyn, New York to Frank John Kocsis, Sr. and Mary Rose (Ondik) Kocsis. Frank graduated from John Adams High School in New York and later attended Hofstra College in New York, majoring in physics. He was a machinist, scientist, and inventor. Frank married Elizabeth E. Lybolt on April 3, 1944 in New York. He later married Carol M. Maxwell on August 16, 1981 in Monterey, California. During Frank's life, he lived in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and California. After college, Frank worked at Servo Corp. of America. He later founded Special Optics Corp. where he was responsible for development of high altitude infra-red camera systems. Frank was a member of the Lutheran church, enjoyed photography, and was a licensed operator for the Ham Radio. He was a highly intelligent individual who loved traveling the country and fishing. Frank is survived by his wife Carol M. Kocsis of Idaho Falls, Idaho, his sister Loretta Messersmith (John) of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, his daughter Carol A. Rossini (Ernest) of Fairfax Station, Virginia, his daughter Wendy I. Schoonmaker (Christopher) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, his daughter Elizabeth Kocsis of Idaho Falls, Idaho, his son Frank J. Kocsis III (Georgann) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, his step-son Michael Maxwell (Susan) Manteca, California, his step-daughter Jo Ellen Lamb (Mike) of Manteca, California, his step-daughter Sherry Smith (Jeff) of Idaho Falls, Idaho, fourteen grandchildren, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Frank is preceded in death by his father Frank, his mother Mary, his brother Robert, and his sisters Mary and Genevieve. A small family memorial service will be held in spring of 2019. Interment will be held at Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Buck Miller Hann Funeral Home.
